Egypt Capital Cup: Ceramica Cleopatra and Modern Sport secure two wins

The third round of the Egypt Capital Cup kicked off with two matches across different groups, as Ceramica Cleopatra beat Ghazl El Mahalla, while Modern Sport continued their positive results by defeating Smouha again.


Ceramica Cleopatra 3-0 Ghazl El Mahalla


Ceramica Cleopatra earned their first victory in the tournament with a 3-0 win over Ghazl El Mahalla at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium.





Ceramica wasted no time, opening the scoring in the 2nd minute through Mohamed Adel, who converted a low cross from Ayman Moka inside the six-yard box.


Mazen Yasser made it 2-0 in the 55th minute, finishing a precise cross from Youssef Afifi inside the penalty area.


The game saw two red cards, one for each team.


Mohamed Adel (Ceramica Cleopatra) received a second yellow in the 64th minute.


Yehia Zakaria (Ghazl El Mahalla) was also sent off in the 77th minute after a second booking.


Fagrie Lakay wrapped up the win in the 81st minute, capitalizing on a pass from Ayman Moka and beating the defender then scored.


Group B Standings After the Match:


Ceramica Cleopatra secured their first win, moving to 3 points from 2 matches, placing third in Group B.


Ghazl El Mahalla extended their winless streak to four games in all competitions, remaining on 4 points from 3 matches in Egypt Capital Cup, sitting second.


National Bank leads the group with 4 points from 2 matches.


Al Masry sits fourth with 1 point from 1 match.


Zed is fifth with 1 point from 2 matches.


Modern Sport 2-0 Smouha


Modern Sport continued their fine form, earning back-to-back victories over Smouha, having beaten them in the league before defeating them again in the Egypt Capital Cup.





Ahmed Atef put Modern Sport ahead in the 23rd minute, capitalizing on a failed try from Smouha’s goalkeeper to slot the ball into an empty net.


Hossam Hassan doubled the lead with a header, following a great solo effort and cross from Walid Farag, who skillfully dribbled past two Smouha defenders.


Group A Standings After the Match:


Modern Sport climbed to third place with 3 points from 2 matches.


Smouha is at the bottom (fifth place) with 0 points from 3 matches.


This loss is their fourth consecutive defeat in all competitions.


Petrojet leads the group with 6 points from 2 matches.


El Gouna follows in second place with 4 points from 2 matches.


Zamalek sits fourth with 1 point from 1 match.
