The Egypt Capital Cup resumed with its new name after being rebranded from the Egyptian League Cup. The competition continued on Tuesday with two second-round group stage matches in Groups A and B.
Smouha 1-2 Petrojet
Petrojet continued its very good form, securing a 2-1 away victory against Smouha.
Khaled Abou Ziada opened the scoring for Petrojet in the 29th minute with a left-footed shot near the edge of the box. This marks his second consecutive game on the scoresheet after also scoring against Haras El Hodoud in the league.
Ismail Bamba doubled the lead for Petrojet in first-half stoppage time, scoring a header from a cross by Tawfik Mohamed. The Senegalese striker has now netted three goals in his last four matches.
Smouha’s only goal came in the 53rd minute, courtesy of defender Mohamed Mostafa Mido, who received a long ball inside the box and placed it into the net. Like Abou Ziada, Mido has now scored in back-to-back games, having also found the net against Zamalek.
This victory marks Petrojet’s third consecutive win, while Smouha has now suffered six defeats in their last seven matches, including the last three games in a row.

National Bank 1-1 Ghazl El Mahalla
In the other match of the day, National Bank and Ghazl El Mahalla played out a 1-1 draw, the second meeting between the two sides in just four days, following their Egypt Cup quarter-final clash on Saturday, where National Bank won 1-0 in the extra time.
Atef El Hakim put Ghazl El Mahalla ahead in the 5th minute with a header from an Ibrahim Hassan cross.
Sayed Abdallah equalized for National Bank in the 15th minute, pouncing on a rebound after the goalkeeper saved an initial attempt.
Both teams are now level at the top of Group B with four points each, but National Bank leads on goal difference.
