The second round of the Egypt Capital Cup group stage continued with two matches in different groups.
Zamalek 1-1 El Gouna
In Group A of Egypt Capital Cup, Zamalek was held to a 1-1 draw at home against El Gouna.
El Gouna took the lead in the 58th minute through their forward Ali El Zahdi, who latched onto a long pass from defender Ahmed Shousha and finished precisely past the Zamalek goalkeeper. This was El-Zahdi’s second goal in his last three matches for El Gouna.
Zamalek failed to break down El Gouna’s defense in the main time and seemed headed for a defeat. However, deep into stoppage time (95th minute), El Gouna’s goalkeeper misjudged a long ball, allowing Mahmoud Hamdy El-Wensh to capitalize and score into an empty net.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw, keeping El Gouna in second place in Group A with four points from two matches, while Zamalek sits in third place with one point from one game.
At the top of the group, Petrojet leads with six points from two matches, while Modern Sport remains fourth with zero points from one game, followed by Smouha, who has also failed to collect any points after two matches.
Al Masry 1-1 ZED
In Group B, Al Masry and ZED played out a 1-1 draw, with both goals coming late in the match.
Al Masry broke the deadlock in the 77th minute through Nigerian forward John Okoye Ebuka, who found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper after a pass from Senegalese forward Pape Badji. This marked Ebuka’s third goal in his last five matches for Al Masry.
However, ZED quickly responded in the 81st minute when Rasheed Ahmed finished from close range after a low cross from Shady Hussein that bypassed Al Masry’s goalkeeper.
This result means ZED has now drawn three and won one in their last four matches, while Al Masry remains winless in their last three games.
In Group B’s standings, National Bank leads with four points from two matches, ahead of Ghazl El Mahalla, who also has four points but trails on goal difference. Al Masry and ZED follow with one point each, while Ceramica Cleopatra remains at the bottom with no points from one game.
