Egypt Cup: Opponents confirmed for Pyramids and Zamalek; ZED FC qualify for Round of 16

Today saw three matches in the Egypt Cup 2025, including one from the Round of 64 and two from the Round of 32.


Abu Qir Fertilizers advance to face Zamalek


In the Round of 64, second division club Abu Qir Fertilizers secured a 3-0 victory over Egyptian Premier League side Baladeyet El Mahalla. The goals came in the 27th, 31st, and 52nd minutes, earning Abu Qir Fertilizers a win in the Round of 64.


In the Round of 32, Abu Qir Fertilizers will face Zamalek on January 9.


ZED FC overcomes Dayrout in Round of 32 clash


ZED FC defeated Dayrout 3-1 in a Round of 32 encounter.


Mohamed Sawaneh opened the scoring for ZED FC in the 6th minute but Mahmoud Ageeb equalized for second tier club Dayrout in the 43rd minute.


Dayrout, currently at the foot of the table in Egypt's Second Division A, held their ground until the 83rd minute when Mohamed Samir converted a penalty to restore ZED’s lead.

Majid Hani sealed the victory with a goal in the 92nd minute to hand Dayrout their ninth defeat in the last eleven matches.


After this win, ZED FC advances to face the winner of Smouha vs. Suez SC in the Round of 16.


Arab Contractors edge Petrojet in a penalty shootout


The final match of the day featured a marathon encounter between current Second Division leaders Arab Contractors and Premier League club Petrojet in the Round of 32. The match ended in a goalless draw after regular and extra time, leading to a penalty shootout.


Arab Contractors emerged victorious winning 4-3 on penalties. Petrojet missed two spot kicks while Arab Contractors missed one out of their five attempts. The win sets up a Round of 16 clash between Arab Contractors and the title holder Pyramids FC.
