The Egypt Cup quarterfinal lineup is now complete, with Pyramids FC and Ghazl El Mahalla securing the last two spots.
Pyramids FC 2-0 Arab Contractors
Defending champions Pyramids FC sealed a 2-0 victory over second-division side Arab Contractors. Pyramids, fielding a squad with several second-choice players, ended the first half in a goalless draw.
However, they found their breakthrough early in the second half through Youssef Obama who opened the scoring in the 48th minute from a low cross by right-back Tarek Alaa. Arab Contractors defender Farouk Nour El-Din failed to clear the ball properly, allowing Obama to finish from close range.
Ahmed Atef Kotta doubled Pyramids' lead in the 85th minute with a strike inside the box from a ball by Mostafa Fathi. With this win, Pyramids advance to the quarterfinals, where they will face ENPPI.
Ghazl El Mahalla 1-0 Pharco (AET)
Ghazl El Mahalla clinched a late 1-0 victory over Pharco in extra time to book their place in the next round.
The match saw both sides fail to break the deadlock in regular time. However, in the second half of extra time, Emad Mayhoub stepped up to secure the win for Mahalla with a goal in the 117th minute after excellent control inside the box.
This victory sets up a quarterfinal clash between Ghazl El Mahalla and National Bank.
