Egypt Cup: Tala'ea El Gaish survive thrilling comeback and 3 more teams advance

The second day of the 2025 Egypt Cup Round of 32 delivered excitement with four matches have been played.


Match 1: El Gouna 2–0 Canal SC


Despite being reduced to ten men in the 34th minute after Ahmed Reda's red card, Premier League club El Gouna managed to secure a victory over second division Al Qanah.


Favour Akem broke the deadlock in the 44th minute and Seif Shika doubled the lead in the 61st minute for Gouna.



Canal SC also saw their player Mahmoud Hersha sent off in the 66th minute and El Gouna held their ground to progress to the Round of 16.


Match 2: Pharco 3–1 Al Tersana


Top division side Pharco dominated second tier Al Tersana in an action-packed match. Ahmed Sherif opened the scoring for Pharco in first-half injury time and Omar Reda extended the lead in the 48th minute.


Babacar Ndiaye sealed the victory with a third goal in the 64th minute. Al Tersana’s Mazen Khaled scored a consolation goal in the 72nd minute but Pharco’s lead remained until the end.



Match 3: ENPPI 1–0 Haras El Hodoud


The only all-Premier League clash of the day saw ENPPI edge past Haras El Hodood with a narrow 1-0 win. Ahmed Nader Hawash delivered the decisive goal with a free-kick in the 48th minute.



ENPPI’s win ensured their spot in the Round of 16 to face the winner between Ismaily SC and Tanta SC.


Match 4: Tala'ea El Gaish 2–2 (4-3 on penalties) Al Olympi


The most dramatic encounter of the day came in a thrilling match between Tala'ea El Gaish and second tier club Al Olympi. Imad Fathi put El Gaish ahead in the 27th minute before Ragab Omran converted a penalty in the 87th minute to make it appear the Egyptian Premier League side was headed for a routine victory.


However, Al Olympi staged a remarkable comeback. Mahmoud El Malek pulled one back in the 91st minute and Youssef Ishaq equalized in the 98th minute to force extra time.


With no goals in extra time, the match went to penalties. El Gaish won the shootout by a 4-3 score to confirm advancement.
