Zamalek successfully advanced to the Round of 16 in the Egypt Cup after a convincing 2-0 victory on Thursday against Abu Qir Fertilizers in the Round of 32.
The first goal came in the 21st minute of the first half when Zamalek star playmaker Zizo fired a free-kick that took a generous deflection off the defensive wall and found its way into the net, giving Zamalek the lead.
Abu Qir Fertilizers goalkeeper Al-Sayed El-Sawy put on a very good display, saving a penalty taken by Zizo in the 42nd minute, keeping his team in contention as the first half ended 1-0.
The score remained unchanged with a strong performance from the second division side's defense and El-Sawy throughout the second half until Mostafa Shalaby doubled Zamalek's lead in the first minute of stoppage time. Shalaby unleashed a beautiful strike from the edge of the penalty area and scored the second goal for Zamalek.
The match ended with a 2-0 win for Zamalek, who will now face Modern Sport in the Round of 16 of the Egypt Cup.
