
Egyptian Football Association president Hany Abou Rida has been elected as the President of the North African Football Union (UNAF) following this week's elections held during the Confederation of African Football (CAF) General Assembly in Cairo, Egypt.
The UNAF General Assembly took place in the Egyptian capital a day before the wider gathering of African football officials attending the CAF General Assembly.
In addition to his new role as UNAF President, Abou Rida has also secured a seat on the FIFA Council as a representative of Africa. He was elected alongside:
Fouzi Lekjaa (Morocco) – President of the Moroccan Football Federation and CAF Vice President
Djibrilla Hima Hamidou (Niger)
Ahmed Yahya (Mauritania)
Souleiman Hassan Waberi (Djibouti)
Kanizat Ibrahim (Comoros) – Elected as the women’s representative
Abou Rida first joined CAF's executive committee in 2004 and has been a member of the FIFA council since 2009.
