Egyptian Premier League: Al Ahly Bank, ZED FC move up the table

The second day of Matchday 5 in the Egyptian Premier League witnessed three encounters on Friday where Modern Sport continued their early season struggles while ZED FC maintained their strong start.


Modern Sport vs. Al Ahly Bank


National Bank secured their first win of the season with a narrow 1-0 victory over Modern Sport. Egypt national team striker Osama Faisal converted a penalty in the 44th minute to seal the win.



This match marked the debut of French coach Franck Dumas as Modern Sport's manager following Talaat Youssef's departure. With the result, Al Ahly Bank move up to 13th place while Modern Sport drop into the relegation zone.


El Gouna vs. ENPPI


El Gouna grabbed their first win of the season by defeating ENPPI 1-0 at home. Ali Al Zahdi scored the only goal in the 85th minute when he received a long ball then finished inside the box.



The match featured another coach debut with Mohammad Ismaeel overseeing his first match with ENPPI. El Gouna move into 10th place on the table and ENPPI continue their slide towards the relegation zone.


Pharco vs. ZED FC


ZED's Abdelrahman El-Banoubi opened the scoring with a header in the 8th minute. Pharco equalized through Ahmed Sherif in the 35th minute when he finished on a low cross from right-back Jefferson Encada.



ZED’s Shadi Hussein secured the win with a left-footed strike inside the box in the 71st minute, moving ZED into 4th place. Pharco slipped to 8th place with the defeat.
