The 10th round of the Egyptian Premier League (Nile League) kicked off today with four matches, including an exciting top of the table clash between Al Ahly and Pyramids.
Al Ahly and Pyramids share the spoils in a thrilling draw
In a dramatic encounter, Al Ahly and Pyramids played out a 2-2 draw in a match full of action and twists.
Pyramids took an early lead in the 18th minute when Al Ahly defender Rami Rabia inadvertently scored an own goal.
The game became even tougher for Pyramids in the 41st minute when midfielder Ahmed Tawfik was sent off after a challenge on Al Ahly’s Karim El Debes.
Despite being down to 10 men, Pyramids doubled their lead in the 51st minute through a penalty by Mostafa Fathi, awarded to Ibrahim Adel.
However, Al Ahly refused to give up and mounted a quick comeback.
Rami Rabia redeemed himself by heading in a goal for Al Ahly in the 52nd minute, reducing the deficit to 2-1.
Just two minutes later, Al Ahly’s new striker, Nejc Gradišar, capitalized on a clearance from Pyramids’ Ali Gabr to score the equalizer.
Al Ahly had a golden opportunity to snatch the win in stoppage time when Gradišar won a penalty. However, Emam Ashour's Panenka-style attempt hit the crossbar, leaving the game tied at 2-2.
The result sees Pyramids remain top of the Nile League table with 21 points, while Al Ahly stays second with 20 points.
Ceramica Cleopatra secure late victory over Ghazl El Mahalla
Ceramica Cleopatra clinched a 1-0 win against Ghazl El Mahalla by a 86th-minute goal by Fakry Lakay.
Lakay received the ball expertly and slotted it past the goalkeeper.
With this victory, Ceramica Cleopatra climbed to third place with 19 points, while Ghazl El Mahalla is now in 15th place with 8 points.
This marks the third consecutive league defeat for Ghazl El Mahalla.
Al Ittihad triumphs over Ismaily by one goal
Al Ittihad defeated Ismaily 1-0 to achieve the first win in 10 games in all competitions.
The game’s only goal came in the 30th minute when newly signed striker Shokry Nagib unleashed a brilliant shot from outside the box.
Al Ittihad now sits in 9th place with 13 points, while Ismaily drops to 10th with 12 points.
Goalless stalemate between Tala’ea El Gaish and Pharco
Tala’ea El Gaish and Pharco played out a 0-0 draw in a match where neither side could break the deadlock.
Both teams now have 12 points, with Pharco in 11th place, edging out Tala’ea El Gaish in 12th on goal difference.
