Egyptian Premier League: Ceramica Cleopatra rise to second place

The first day of Round 8 in the Egyptian Premier League ("Nile League") featured two matches with different results.


Tala'ea El Gaish vs. Ceramica Cleopatra


The second game of the day saw Ceramica Cleopatra secure a 1-0 victory over Tala'ea El Gaish at the Military Sports Sector Stadium.


Ahmed Kendouci scored the decisive goal in the 66th minute after a well exectured attack by Ceramica Cleopatra. Kendouci received the ball inside the box and fired past El Gaish goalkeeper Mohamed Shaaban to score the only goal of the game.



Earlier in the match, Tala'ea El Gaish came close to opening the scoring in the 49th minute when Godwin Okwara's header hit the post of Ceramica Cleopatra's goal but didn't cross the line.


The victory elevated Ceramica Cleopatra to the 2nd place on the table with 15 points, level with Al Ahly at the top but behind on goal difference. Al Ahly still has a game to play in this round. Tala'ea El Gaish are now in 13th place with 8 points after this defeat.


Petrojet vs. ENPPI


Friday kicked off with a clash between Petrojet and ENPPI at the PetroSport Stadium.


The match ended in a goalless draw, with both teams failing to find the back of the net. The notable moment came in the 19th minute when Petrojet's Rashad Metwally missed a penalty, sending the ball off target.



The draw brought Petrojet's tally to 10 points in the 7th place on the league table. Meanwhile, ENPPI climbed to 7 points in the 14th place.
