Egyptian Premier League: Ismaily make it difficult for Pyramids FC

The third day of Matchday 5 in the Egyptian Premier League, also known as the Nile League, featured two clashes: Ghazl El-Mahalla hosted Al-Ittihad Alexandria, while Ismaily welcomed Pyramids FC at Ismailia Stadium.

The second match saw Ismaily and Pyramids FC share the spoils in a 1-1 draw.


Key Moments:


28’: Ismaily’s Marwan Hamdy opened the scoring with a left-footed strike inside the box after a cross from teammate and former Pyramids player Eric Traore. The defender of Pyramids tried to clear the cross but the ball went to Marwan who finished to put the hosts ahead.




45’: Osama Halal equalized for Pyramids just before halftime, capitalizing on an uncleared ball to fire home a low cross.




The result ended Pyramids’ six-match winning streak against Ismaily making it the first draw between the two teams since the 2020-21 season.


Standings Update:


Pyramids are now in 4th place with 8 points.


Ismaily moved up to 13th with 5 points.



Ghazl El-Mahalla 0-0 Al-Ittihad Alexandria


The first match ended in a goalless draw, with neither team able to break the deadlock throughout the encounter.


This marked the first league match of the season for Ghazl El-Mahalla under the management of Shawky Gharib, who had previously led the team to a 3-1 victory over ZED in the Egyptian League Cup.


Standings Update:


Al-Ittihad climbed to 8 points, and remain 7th in the table.


Ghazl El-Mahalla now has 5 points, sitting in 15th place.
