Ismaily SC decided to file a complaint to the Nile League (Egyptian Premier League) Competition Committee and request a forfeit victory from Wednesday's Round 7 match against Modern Sport.
The club based its protest on Modern Sport’s violation of league regulations by fielding six foreign players during the game, which ended in a goalless draw on Wednesday.
Modern Sport featured the following foreign players:
Joseph Jonathan Ngwem (Cameroon)
Fejiri Okenabirhie (Nigeria)
Mohamed Amissi (Burundi)
Enock Sakala (Zambia)
Arnold Eba (Cameroon)
Ibraheem Ajasa (Nigeria)
Ismaily SC issued a statement as follows:
Ismaily SC has decided to submit an official protest to the Competitions Committee, demanding to be awarded the full points from the match against Modern Sport, due to the hosting team’s violation of the competition regulations.
Ismaily’s protest is based on Modern Sport fielding 6 foreign players in the match, which violates the competition regulations that stipulate no more than 5 foreign players can participate in a single Premier League match.
The Premier League regulations state that clubs are allowed to register 5 foreign players within the first-team squad and 3 players within the youth categories, with only 5 foreign players allowed to participate in any single match.
