Round 6 of the Egyptian Premier League began on Tuesday and none of the four clubs involved emerged victorious including reigning CAF Confederation Cup champions Zamalek.
The second match was between Zamalek and Talaa El-Gaish held at the Military College Stadium. This match ended in a 2-2 draw.
Godwin Okwara opened the scoring in the 35th minute of the first half after he executed a one-two pass with his teammate Ahmed Meteb. He then dribbled past a Zamalek defender and fired in to score the first goal.
Zamalek responded quickly, as midfielder Mohamed Shehata equalized for them in the 43rd minute with a left-footed shot from outside the box which found the back of the net, leveling the score. Shehata had played for Talaa El-Gaish last season before transferring to Zamalek.
Zamalek continued their attack and scored a second goal through striker Hossam Ashraf, who fired a brilliant left-footed shot from outside the box in the 4th minute of stoppage time in the first half.
However, Zamalek couldn't maintain their lead, as Godwin Okwara scored his second goal of the match and the second for Talaa El-Gaish in the 55th minute. He capitalized on a rebound from the crossbar and slotted the ball into the net.
Zamalek moved into first place following the result but it is their second consecutive draw in league play and The White Castle are highly likely to be dethroned at the top considering they have played more matches than the top competitors.
The first match was between ZED FC and ENPPI, played at the Cairo International Stadium. The match ended in a goalless draw, not too surprising considering both teams average less than a goal per match early in the campaign. ZED move into third place on nine points and ENPPI join a group of six clubs each on five points.
