The final day of Round 10 in the Nile Egyptian Premier League witnessed two matches.
National Bank (Al Ahly Bank) vs. Petrojet
The first clash was between National Bank and Petrojet and ended in a 2-0 victory for Petrojet. Petrojet opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Hamed Hamdan converted a header from a cross delivered by Gabriel Chukwudi.
In the 30th minute, Osama Faisal of National Bank appeared to score after intercepting the ball from Petrojet’s goalkeeper and slotting it into the empty net. However, the referee disallowed the goal, ruling that the ball was still in the goalkeeper's possession.
The action continued when Petrojet's Rashad Metwally won a penalty which lead to the dismissal of National Bank’s defender Mahmoud Al-Jazzar in the 44th minute. However, Senegalese player Ismail Bamba missed the penalty, sending his shot off target in the first minute of stoppage time in the first half.
In the 61st minute, the Nigerian Gabriel Chukwudi doubled Petrojet's lead. He received the ball after a pass from Rashad Metwally inside the penalty area and finished into the back of National Bank’s net.
The score remained unchanged, giving Petrojet a 2-0 win.
victory raised Petrojet’s points tally to 16, propelling them to 6th place, while National Bank remained on 14 points, slipping to 7th place.
This defeat ended National Bank's run of four consecutive wins in all competitions, including three in the Nile League.
Smouha vs. ZED
In the second match of the day, Smouha secured a 2-1 victory over ZED.
The Nigerian player Samuel Amadi opened the scoring for Smouha in the 39th minute with a shot from outside the penalty area.
Mostafa Ziko equalized for ZED in the sixth minute of stoppage time in the first half with a header. However, Amadi struck again in the 86th minute, scoring from inside the box to secure the lead again for Smouha.
With this result, Smouha climbed to 11 points, and are now in 14th place, while ZED’s points remained at 13, and they are in 8th place.
This was Smouha's second win against ZED this month, following their victory in the Round of 16 of the Egypt Cup.
Smouha has now won two of their last three league games after achieving just one win in the first seven rounds, which came in the opening match of the season against Haras ElHodoud.
Meanwhile, this loss marks ZED's third consecutive defeat in all competitions, including two in the Nile League. ZED had only suffered one loss in the first eight rounds of the league, which came against Al Ahly in Round 2.
