Elhadji Kone: Young Mali striker joins Belgium’s Cercle Brugge

Mali striker Elhadji Kone has signed a contract with Belgian top tier club, Cercle Brugge.


The young forward joined the Jupiler Pro League side in a deal that will see him stay until 2027 with an option for a further year. Kone, 19, will however spend time with the club’s reserve team in order to adapt to Belgian football


Kone’s formative years includes previous stint in Morocco’s fourth division and he expressed joy at making the move to Belgium.


“I come from a club in Morocco, which plays in the fourth division. It is thanks to my agent that I was able to have a trial in Belgium at Cercle Bruges and, by the grace of Allah, it worked out… I am currently playing with the reserves while I continue to progress,” he said.


The young forward’s arrival will help Bruges add value to his lots which has been the strategy of the in identifying and developing promising talent.
