Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Enoch Morrison has revealed that he had a torrid time under former coach Prosper Narteh Ogum.
Morrison, who played under coach Ogum in the 2022/23 season, described his time under the University of Cape Coast lecturer as challenging, stating that players struggled to make their voices heard.
Ogum was dismissed after a string of poor results in the league, with two consecutive losses against Accra Lions and Nations FC in an outstanding week 22 and week 28.
Veteran coach Abdul Karim Zito has taken over on an interim basis, supported by Prince Owusu, who previously served as Kwesi Appiah’s deputy at Al Khartoum. Experienced coach and former Ghana international Malik Jabir remains at the club in his role as technical advisor.
Speaking to Fakye TV, Morrison, who now plies his trade in Kenya for Gor Mahia, said: “For me, he’s challenging, not because he puts pressure on players, but because he doesn't handle feedback well. If we raise concerns or suggest an alternative, he often insists on his way. That made things tense.
“His communication with players was also an issue. When a player voiced an opinion or wasn’t getting minutes, he tended to take it personally. That created unnecessary friction.”
Morrison, 25, joined Gor Mahia in July 2024 after his contract with Porcupine Warriors expired. Asante Kotoko currently sits fourth in the league with 47 points, six behind leaders Gold Stars with six matches remaining. Their title hopes appear slim, with Nations FC in second on 51 points and Heart of Lions third, also on 47.
