Belgian second tier club RFC Liège announced on their social media over the weekend that they have come to an agreement to transfer forward Mohamed Moulhi to Tunisian giants Espérance ST.
The clubs have agreed on the transfer but there are still some obstacles before it can be formalized. According to Tunisian outlet La Presse, Espérance must wait for FIFA to lift transfer sanctions after punishing the Blood and Gold for delayed payments to Jordanian former forward Sharara.
Moulhi arrived in Tunis on Sunday to complete his medical while the completion of the formalities are ongoing. The 26-year-old versatile attacker of Tunisian descent has spent his entire career in his native Belgium, mostly in the country's third division.
Moulhi led RFC Liège to a runner-up finish and promotion to the second tier Challenger Pro League during the 2022-23 season and has provided 6 goals and 3 assists in 43 appearances over the past season-and-a-half.
After a poor start to the 2024-25 season, the form of Espérance has improved substantially under Romanian coach Laurențiu Reghecampf. EST won Group D in the CAF Champions League and are closing in on top spot in Tunisia's Ligue 1 Professionnelle, currently sitting in 5th position with matches to make up on the clubs ahead of them.
However the striker corps is thin with Brazilian target man Rodrigo Rodrigues out with a muscle injury. Moulhi will compete with Algerian striker Riad Benayad who is back in training with EST after spending last season on loan with Morocco's Raja Casablanca following a long-term knee injury.
