Eswatini coach Zdravko Logarušić has refused to throw in the towel despite his team’s 0-2 home loss to Madagascar’s The Barea in the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier Saturday.

He said this in a post-match press conference after the final qualifying round, first-leg game at Lucas Moripe Stadium in South Africa.

“The game is still on. I think we now have learned our lessons. We have to stop giving balls away. We are just giving manna from heaven,” Logarušić said.

Ahead of the second leg in Madagascar next Sunday, the former Zimbabwe’s Warriors coach refused to give up on the qualification to the CHAN finals.

“We are not giving up.  We saw what we have to see. We have to learn from our mistakes. We are going to change the system a bit and take more risks [in the second leg]. If they can score two goals here, why can we not go there and also score two goals?”

Sihlangu fielded a strong side comprising seasoned players such as Green Mambas FC’s Sabelo Ndzinisa but got punished by the more clinical islanders.

Eswatini booted out Zimbabwe from the first round via a 4-0 aggregate score over two legs to make it to the second and final qualifying round.

Eswatini does not have a certified venue for such international competitions hence playing in South Africa. The Barea will host Sighlangu for the second leg at the Côte d'Or National Sports Complex in Mauritius on December 29.
