Relegation battlers Wolwalo Adigrat University have signed a pair of Uganda national team players after striker Fahad Bayo and defender Musa Ramathan.
The duo last featured for Czech Republic side MFK Vyškov but left following a contractual breach that saw FIFA recently order the club to compensate Bayo with $55,000.
Wolwalo coach Tsegaye Kidanemariam previously stated that his team needs some fresh legs for the second half of the season with The Yellows involved in a serious fight to avoid relegation. The club board and general manager Mikael Amdemeskel have been working on new signings to help the club's cause.
The two Ugandans join after Ghanaian defender Kasim Razak signed for the Northern Ethiopian side for the 2024/25 season.
Kidanemariam hopes Bayo’s experience will help his side in their pursuit for safety. Bayo, 26, gained experience playing in his native Uganda, Zambia, Israel and the Czech Republic. He is expected to partner Dawa Hotessa up front.
Towering defender Ramathan joins after a spell out of football since following his time with Vyškov, previously beginning his career with famous Ugandan side KCCA FC as well as spending time on loan with the reserve side of Major League Soccer club FC Cincinnati from Vyškov.
Wolwalo have only scored seven league goals this season, the lowest goal tally among the 18 clubs in the top flight. The club currently sit at the bottom of the table with eight points.
