Ethiopian Premier League bottom side Wolwalo Adigrat University are closing on the acquisition of Nigerian international goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo. Ojo mutually terminated his contract with Sudanese giants Al Merreikh in January 2025.
According to Soccer Ethiopia, Wolwalo have made a shock move to bring in the experienced shot stopper to Ethiopia. The Adigrat outfit have conceded 24 goals this season and coach Tsegaye Kidanemariam believed strengthening his squad with experience might help them in the fight for survival.
Ojo only spent six months with Al Merrikh. He is expected to complete his move to the Yellows in the coming days pending the processing of his international clearance and work permit. He will be vying for a place against Ethiopian international Bereket Amare.
Wolwalo sit at the foot of the table with twelve points separating the club from escaping the drop zone. They have yet to reach double digit points, claiming nine points from nineteen matches, and are heavy favorites to be relegated to the second tier Ethiopian Higher League.
