Two times Ethiopian champions Hawassa Ketema have parted ways with head coach Zerai Mulu citing poor performance in the top flight. The south Ethiopian side have lost five of their ten games in the ongoing campaign.
Mulu was instrumental in reviving the club's fortune as he guided them to a seventh place finish in 2022/23 season. Last season the club was ninth and signed many prominent players from top clubs. Nonetheless, results turned out to be very disappointing. Mulu saw his charges winning only two games.
The club decided to sack Mulu and is expected to hire a new coach soon. Sources who want to stay anonymous told Pan-Africa Football that the club will likely appoint former captain Mulugeta Miheret.
Hawassa Ketema are in 17th position in the 18-team league with nine points. Their next Premier League game will be against Fasil Kenema on January 3.
