Week 13 games of the Ethiopian Premier League kick started earlier today at the Adama Science and Technology University Stadium as Bahirdar Ketema earned a crucial win over strugglers Hawassa Ketema. Diredawa Ketema and Ethiopian Coffee played out a goalless draw in the last match of the day.

Bahirdar Ketema beat Hawassa Ketema 1-0 to go top of the league for now. The Waves of Tana were the better side in the first half in terms of creating scoring opportunities. The Lakers came closest to opening the scoring in the second half as Isreak Eshetu rattled the bar.

Nigerian import Jerome Philip netted the decisive goal ten minutes before full time. Hawassa Ketema’s interim manager Wondimagegn Teshome suffered a defeat on his second game in charge.

In Wednesday's latter fixture, Diredawa frustrated Ethiopian Coffee to a barren 0-0 draw. Coffee coach Netsanet Kibre and his side failed to take the golden opportunity to close the gap on the log leaders. The Easterners on the other hand are fourth with 18 points. The Addis Ababa outfit is sixth with 16 points following the result.

Bahirdar Ketema leads the league with 22 points, having a better goal difference than Hadiya Hosaina. Hawassa are currently in the relegation zone with 10 points.
