The new Ethiopian Premier League leaders Hadia Hosaina head coach Girma Tadesse is elated over the win they recorded against Mecha. Top of the table clash Hosaina beat the army side 1-0 thanks to a goal from Chala Teshita to become the new leaders of the league.

In his post-match press conference, Tadesse told Soccer Ethiopia that his charges gave no space to Mechal to operate in the midfield. “The pitch is a bit tough to play on. We knew the opposition would suffer due to the style of football they play. They had numbers in midfield and we tried everything to control their game. We created with counter attacks and we scored the crucial goal.”

Hosaina’s defensive style of game is yielding fruits as they kept five clean sheets in six games. Tadesse said he did not expect such an outcome against Mechal. “Our defensive game was on point. We did not give them any scoring chances. Our boys have the quality to control the game. We did not expect to get such a result because Mechal is a big team. It is a big deal to beat Mechal.”

Hadia Hosaina were among the clubs that have been implicated on non-payment for their players. Nevertheless the head coach stated the club is doing much better now as the players are focused to maintain their lead.

Hadia Hosaina leads the log table with 22 points, one point ahead of Mechal. Last season the club finished the league being 8th with 41 points. Next they will face 2020/21 Ethiopian champions Fasil Kenema.
