Two second half goals handed Arbaminch Ketema a 2-1 win over Wolayta Dicha in the opening fixture of week 16 of the Ethiopian Premier League. In the later match on Thursday, reigning champions Commercial Bank of Ethiopia failed to beat fellow strugglers Sihul Shire in Adama.

Former Wolkite Ketema striker Ahmed Hussien struck twice to give the Crocodiles a 2-1 comeback win over Wolayta Dicha. Dicha led through a goal from Yared Darza, who capitalized on a defensive lapse of Arbaminch. Hussien responded for Arbaminch with a brace after the interval.

Bereket Demu’s charges have now won their last three successive games as they sit sixth with 22 points. Dicha are seventh with 20 points. Later on Thursday, holders Commercial Bank of Ethiopia were held to a one all draw by Sihul Shire. Kitika Jima’s opener in the second half was cancelled out by Ghanaian defender Mohammed Suleman.

Getachew Dawit’s side managed to salvage a point after four losses in a row. Both Bank and Shire remain in the relegation zone. CBE are 15th with 15 points while newcomers Shire sit 16th with 12 points.
