League leaders Ethiopian Insurance brushed aside Ethiopian Coffee in Friday's week 16 match of the Ethiopian Premier League. Meanwhile, another victory for newcomers Mekele 70 Enderta helped them to close the gap on the top teams.
Gebremedhin Haile's charges swept aside Ethiopian Coffee 1-0 in Adama. Insurance were the better side of the two. Former Saint George striker Abubakher Sani scored the lone goal of the encounter six minutes before time. Ethiopian Insurance are top of the league with 29 points. Coffee are 10th with 19 points.
One-time Ethiopian champions Mekele 70 Enderta continued on their impressive run of form with their 2-0 win over Adama Ketema in Friday's early match. Yared Birhanu and Ghanaian Benjamin Kotey scored the goals. Mekele are seventh with 21 points while Adama plunge into the relegation zone with 15 points.
