In week 15 of the Ethiopian Premier League, Ethiopian Insurance and Hadiya Hosaina registered big wins on Monday to move to the summit for the time being. In the big game of the round, Insurance defeated Bahirdar Ketema 1-0 while Hadiya Hosaina pipped holders Commercial Bank of Ethiopia in Adama.

Insurance’s good form persisted as they beat Bahirdar Ketema 1-0. A second half goal from left back Ramadan Youssuf was enough to hand Gebremedhin Haile’s side a big win as they become the new leaders of the Premier League with 26 points.

Addis Ababa-based Insurance are unbeaten in their last nine league outings, only conceding four goals which is the lowest in the league. They are now one of the favorites to a league title under the former Ethiopian national side coach. The Waves of Tana are fifth with 22 points.

Hadiya Hosaina scored early to ease past reigning champions Commercial Bank of Ethiopia. Former Wolayta Dicha striker Eyob Alemayehu scored the lone goal in the first half. Girma Tadesse’s side are second in the log table while CBE remain in the relegation zone with 14 points.

Elsewhere, Mekele 70 Enderta beat Ethio-Electric on Sunday while Wolayta Dicha and Sidama Coffee played out a goalless draw in Adama in the other fixture. Former Accra Hearts of Oak player Benjamin Afutu Kotey scored the long goal in Mekele's victory for his first Ethiopian Premier League goal.
