
Ethiopian Insurance are the champions of the first half of the 2024-25 Ethiopian Premier League season after comprehensively defeating Diredawa Ketema 3-0. In Monday's other match, Ethio-Electric beat Arbaminch Ketema.
On the final matchday of Week 19, Ethiopian Insurance asserted that they are the leading favorites for the league title following Monday's victory. Wogene Gezahegn gave the Light Blues the lead in the first half before Mohammed Abera made it 2-0 before the break through a fantastic finish after rounding two players to score his fifth goal of the campaign.
After the resumption, Insurance continued to dominate the proceedings and added a third goal through a Million Solomon header in the 90th minute. Gebremedhin Haile’s side sit at the top of the standings with 35 points. The Easterners are 14th with 20 points following the defeat.
Ethio-Electric registered a big win as they defeat Arbaminch Ketema 2-1 in Adama. Abel Habtamu opened the scoring for the Addis Ababa side in the first half. The Crocodiles leveled matters in the second half through Andualem Asnake. Eyob Gebremariam secured all three points for Electric ten minutes before time, moving the Addis Ababa club up to seventh with 25 points while Arbaminch Ketema are eighth with 24 points.
The league will continue with the second half of the campaign after a three week recess. Adama will still be the venue for league games. The league company opted to move games to Hawassa after Week 22.
