Mechal continued their poor form on Thursday, losing to relegation battlers Hawassa Ketema 1-0 in their Round 16 Ethiopian Premier League game played out at the Adama Science and Technology University Stadium.

The Army side looked to bounce back from a three-game winless run but they faced a challenge against a much changed Hawassa side. The Lakers scored the lone goal of the game in the second half through a well executed free kick from Ali Sulieman. The Eritrean international beat Ugandan import Nafian Alionzi to score the goal from 16 meters out.

Mechal head coach Gebrekirstos Birara was at the dugout after recovering from an illness but his charges are winless in four games as they start to fall behind in recent weeks. They are currently third with 23 points. Hawassa Ketema are 16th with 15 points.

Elsewhere, Ethio Electric and Wolwalo Adigrat University settled for a 1-1 draw. Dawa Hottesa gave Wolwalo the lead from the spot while Fikadu Alemu leveled matters for the Addis Ababa side.

Electric are 11th with 19 points. Wolwalo are 18th with six points.
