The Ethiopian Premier League has returned after a three week hiatus with Commercial Bank of Ethiopia continuing their ascension up the table. Second placed Hadiya Hosaina missed out on a golden chance to close the gap on leaders Ethiopian Insurance following their draw against strugglers Hawassa Ketema in Adama.
Reigning champions CBE pipped Mekele 70 Enderta 1-0 in Thursday's later game. Ugandan import Simon Peter scored the lone goal of the game. The ex-BUL FC striker headed home from a well taken corner from Addis Gidey in the first half. After a difficult first round, CBE coach Betselot Luleseged hopes to stage a comeback as they sit eighth with 25 points. Mekele are 13th with 22 points.
Elsewhere, Hawassa Ketema hold Hadiya Hosaina to a barren draw. Limited scoring chances, defensive approaches and long balls were the themes of the encounter. Under new coach Mulugeta Miheret, the Lakers managed to salvage a point against Hosaina.

Hosaina are second with 31 points while Hawassa climbed up to be 15th with 16 points. Two-time Ethiopian champions Hawassa remain in the relegation zone. Week 20 games will resume on Friday.
