Europa League: Ghana defender Alexander Djiku disappointed in Fenerbahce’s draw against Lyon

Ghana defender, Alexander Djiku has expressed disappointment in the result against Ligue 1 club, Olympique Lyon at home on Thursday.


The Turkish giants were held to a goalless draw in match day 7 of the UEFA Europa League in a game which saw the visitors enjoy a lion share of ball possession. Djiku, who has been a key figure for manager Jose Mourinho’s side played the full throttle of the encounter but he was left disappointed after the game.


“Clearly not the result we’d hoped for,” Alexander Djiku wrote on X. “We won’t give up until the end. Thank you all the Fans.” Djiku wrote on X. The result leaves Fenerbahce in 23rd on the new look UEFA Europa League with nine points from seven matches with Lyon moving into 5th on 14 points.


Alexander Djiku has played five Europa League games with no goals under his belt. The 30-year-old has collected 15 league games this season but is yet to score.


In the vein, another Ghana international, Ernest Nuamah climbed off the bench to play a part for Lyon after replacing Georges Mikautadze on the 79th minute.
