Three East African football legends, including former Inter Milan star McDonald Mariga, will conduct the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) draw in Kenya on Wednesday.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) released the list of the draw masters on Monday with Uganda’s Hassan Wasswa, Mrisho Ngasa of Tanzania joining the former Kenya’s Harambee Stars midfielder Mariga for the draw.

Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi will host the draw at 20h00 local time (17h00 GMT / 19h00 Cairo time) ahead of the CHAN finals which the three East African nations will host from February 1 to 28 2025.

CAF justified the selection of Mariga owing to his impeccable career that saw him become the first Kenyan to star in the UEFA Champions League while on the books of Inter Milan with whom he won the Serie A title, two Coppa Italia trophies, and the 2010 Club World Cup.

Wasswa, too, had a glittering career with the Cranes and was capped 75 times with his club career taking to Turkey and Saudi Arabia before he called it time five years ago.

Ngasa is also a legend in Tanzania as he is the second all-time leading scorer with 25 goals. His club career took him to Free State Stars in South Africa, Azam FC, Mbeya City FC and Yanga FC, where he is a cult-hero.
