Ex-Nigeria captain John Obi Mikel has said that he is pulling strings to ensure that compatriot Victor Osimhen joins his former club Chelsea FC.
The lanky striker was linked with a move to the English Premier League giants at the end of last term, but he instead joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Italian Serie A side, Napoli.
The 37-year-old retired midfielder stayed with Chelsea for 11 years where he won multiple titles, including two Premier League titles, four FA Cups, and the 2011–12 Champions League.
He wants the current Super Eagles hitman to replicate the feat with the Blues “Of course, Victor has moved to Galatasaray, and he’s banging in goals, doing what he knows how to do best,” Mikel said on SoccerNet.
“So, it’s nice to see how he’s settling in, and I’m still trying to get him to try to come to the club. I’m trying to press my buttons and see if we can get things done, hopefully, we never know.”
Osimhen has netted 19 goals and provided five assists in 24 games across all competitions for Galatasaray. Osimhen reportedly has a release clause of around €75 million, and Napoli is expected to sell the player.
