Pan-Africa Football has learned that Sudan's Al Hilal SC is holding off on officially submitting their venue request for the second leg of the CAF Champions League quarterfinals against Al Ahly, despite previously announcing Benghazi Stadium in Libya as their choice.
A source inside the Sudanese club exclusively told Pan Africa Football: "We have not yet submitted our request, we are waiting for CAF to officially approve the designated venues."
Al Hilal is set to face Al Ahly in the quarterfinals, with the first leg scheduled for April 1 in Cairo. The return leg will take place on April 8 at a location yet to be finalized by the Sudanese club.
Due to the ongoing situation in Sudan, Al Hilal has been playing its home matches abroad.
This season, the team is competing in Super D1 (the Mauritanian league), currently sitting third in the standings with 28 points—five points behind leaders FC Nouadhibou but with four games in hand.
