The Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) has hinted at changes in the senior national football team due to unsatisfactory performance in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

LeFA general secretary Mohosi Mohapi confirmed exclusively to Pan- Africa Football that they were unhappy with the team’s performance after picking one point from two World Cup qualifiers in the last two weeks.

“We have invested so much we need to see the team winning or then we may have to restrategise going forward,” he said.

Mohapi did not specify any changes but but dismissed the notion that Likuena is facing challenges of incentives or motivation for players

“The motivation is good enough because everybody can play for a foreign contract. Two, the issue of incentives, I don’t think we are doing too badly given our economy as an association,” he said.

“Remember [the Confederation of African Football] CAF is not playing any role in assisting the federations, unlike in many African countries where they get support from the government.”

Likuena lost 2-0 to South Africa on Friday, March 21, 2025, then drew one-all against Rwanda on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, to remain second from the bottom of the group with six points from six games, nine points behind leaders South Africa.
