Express FC climbed to fourth on the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table after a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory over 10-man Soltilo Bright Stars at Nakivubo Stadium.
Meanwhile, Maroons FC edged Mbale Heroes 1-0, adding to the newcomers' struggles as KCCA FC dropped points in a goalless stalemate against Police FC at Kavumba. At Nakivubo, Bright Stars took an early lead through Ashraf Mulindi’s sixth-minute strike assisted by Nelson Senkatuka.
However, Express turned the game around in the second half. Conrad Ssenjogera emerged as the hero with a brace, first equalizing from Joseph Zziwa’s pass before netting the winner in the 66th minute after a clever setup from Sam Ssenyonjo.
The match took a dramatic turn two minutes later when Bright Stars' Marvin Youngman was sent off for slapping Ssenjogera in retaliation. The win marked Express’ sixth victory in 14 matches, lifting them to fourth with 22 points, six behind leaders Vipers SC who have a game in hand.
Bright Stars remain bottom with nine points, having suffered nine defeats this season. At the Prisons Ground in Luzira, a 15th-minute penalty from Ivan Mayanja secured Maroons a narrow 1-0 win over struggling Mbale Heroes.
The victory moved Maroons to fifth on 22 points, while Mbale Heroes remain second from bottom with nine. At Kavumba Recreation Ground, Police FC held KCCA FC to a goalless draw, a result that sees KCCA remain third with 24 points while Police climb to seventh with 18.
Match day 14 continues on Friday at UPDF FC welcome Vipers SC in Bombo while Bul FC visit Lugazi FC at Najjembe Stadium.
