Ugandan striker Fahad Aziz Bayo has emerged victorious in a contract dispute against Czech club MFK Vyskov, securing $55,000 (UGX 209M) in compensation.

Additionally, the club faces a transfer ban until the full payment is made. The dispute stemmed from Vyskov’s unilateral termination of Bayo’s contract, citing his absence as justification.

However, the club failed to substantiate its claims, leading to a ruling in the player’s favor. Bayo initially joined Vyškov in January 2023 on a two-year contract as a free agent, completing the remainder of the 2022/23 season before featuring throughout the 2023/24 campaign.

Despite the club’s push for promotion to the Czech top flight, they fell short. Following the season, both Bayo and fellow Ugandan Musa Ramathan had their contracts terminated under questionable circumstances.

Their management agency had exited the market at the time, and Vyškov allegedly exploited this situation to free up squad space for new signings. While Bayo pursued legal action and successfully won his case, Ramathan did not take formal steps against the club.

Vyskov has built a reputation for recruiting African talent, including Ugandan internationals Aziz Kayondo, Bobosi Byaruhanga, and Musa Ramathan.

However, this case raises concerns about the club’s handling of player contracts and its commitment to fair treatment of its squad members.
