Young Africans joined rivals Simba SC in qualifying for the quarterfinals of Tanzania's Federation Cup on Saturday following a 2-0 victory over NBC Championship side Songea United.

Duke Abuya's finish from a Pacôme Zouzoua cross opened the scoring in the 22nd minute. The Kenyan midfielder arrived to bounce his finish for a controversial goal, as it appeared that Zouzoua may not have reached the ball in time before it crossed the end line.

Congolese attacker Jonathan Ikangalombo confirmed the victory for Yanga in the second half with his first goal since joining the Dar es Salaam giants in January. Zouzoua once again caused danger on the left flank before crossing for an open Ikangalombo to fire in his finish from close range.

Following elimination from the CAF Champions League at the group stage, all of Yanga's attention is on domestic competitions and achieving another Mainland Premier League title with only one point separating them from second placed Simba. Yanga return to league action on Tuesday when they travel to face Tabora United.
