Captain of Wydad Casablanca, Jamal Harkass says they will be very ambitious in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, judging from the tough opponents in their group.

The Moroccan club has been paired with English Premier League side, Manchester City, Serie A giants Juventus and Al Ain of the UAE in Group G.

With the Club World Cup approaching in the summer, Wydad are looking forward to making an impact with the expanded tournament set to kick off in the United States of America.

“We talk to each other every day about the Club World Cup in the United States, where big clubs will participate in this tournament,” Harkass said in an interview with the official website of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) on Monday.

“Our group is very difficult because it includes big clubs, namely Manchester City, Juventus and Al Ain. “The players are looking forward to these matches, and we are working on preparing for them well from now on,” he stressed.

Facing Manchester City, led by Spanish coach Pep Guardiola, is a special challenge for Wydad, given the English club’s record as a former Champions League champion and English champion for several consecutive seasons.

Regarding this challenge, Harkass explained, “There is no doubt that facing Manchester City is a strong match, especially since they are the former European champions. We must play at a high level without mistakes, as this is one of the matches that are won by small details.”
