FIFA Club World Cup: Wydad drawn with two European titans; Al Ahly to face Messi

The draw for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup took place today in Miami, USA with 32 clubs drawn into 8 groups. The tournament is scheduled to run from June 15 to July 13, 2025, with matches hosted across 12 stadiums in the United States.

The draw resulted in balanced groups for the African clubs except for Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca who found themselves in a tough group alongside European giants Manchester City and Juventus FC. On the other hand, Mamelodi Sundowns may fancy their chances in Group F with Fluminense of Brazil, Korean club Ulsan HD and Germany's Borussia Dortmund.

Egypt’s Al Ahly received the chance of playing in the tournament's opening match. They were drawn into Group A and will kick off the competition against Inter Miami, led by Argentine superstar Lionel Messi.
