FIFA has officially imposed a transfer ban on Egyptian club Pyramids FC, adding them to the list of Egyptian teams prohibited from registering new players.
According to FIFA’s database, Pyramids FC now joins Ismaily, Aswan, and Eastern Company on the list of clubs facing registration bans.
Reason for the ban
Egyptian website YallaKora reports that the ban stems from an issue related to Nigerian youngster Samuel Ojo Tolulope.
The problem arose because the player’s electronic passport (E-passport) was not issued properly on FIFA’s system. Although Ojo is currently on loan at El Gouna FC, FIFA decided to impose the punishment on his parent club, Pyramids FC.
The ban takes effect starting February 25 and will remain in place until the issue is resolved.
What Is an electronic passport in football?
An electronic passport (E-passport) in football refers to a digital registration record in FIFA’s Transfer Matching System (TMS). It ensures that a player's transfer history, eligibility, and documentation are officially verified.
