Egyptian club Zamalek has received an official letter from the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), notifying the club of a ban on registering new players due to outstanding dues owed to former Moroccan striker Khalid Boutaïb.

Amr Adham, a member of Zamalek’s board of directors, confirmed in statements to the club's media center that the player is still owed €983,000 from his contract with the club. He added that Zamalek had already paid a significant portion of Boutaïb's total dues, which were approximately €2.4 million.

Adham further explained that the club had failed to pay the remaining installments over the past few months, which led to the reactivation of the registration ban.

He assured that Zamalek will pay the remaining amount during the upcoming period before the new registration window opens and the ban will be lifted as soon as the outstanding dues to Boutaib are cleared.

Boutaib played for Zamalek from January 2019 until January 2020, during which he made 24 appearances, scored 5 goals, and provided 2 assists. During his time with Zamalek, Boutaib won the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup title.

His contract with Zamalek was terminated by the club due to a disagreement regarding the handling of a surgical procedure.
