The Uganda U17 Women’s National Team delivered a breathtaking performance to annihilate Namibia 10-0 in the first leg of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers (first round) on Thursday at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

Team captain Agnes Nabukenya stole the show, netting an incredible six goals to lead the Teen Cranes in the dominant display. Martha Babirye, Rinah Ariho, Joan Kizza Namulindwa and substitute Isabella Blick Kabarozi also added their names to the scoresheet, completing the emphatic victory.

Nabukenya set the tone early, scoring in the 6th minute with a close-range finish. Babirye doubled the lead in the 11th minute before Nabukenya completed her hat trick with two quick goals. She added a fourth before halftime, with Ariho scoring Uganda’s sixth goal just before the break.

Coach Sheryl Botes made key substitutions in the second half introducing goalkeeper Sharifah Namutebi, Joan Kizza Namulindwa and Rashidah Nakalema to refresh the team. Namulindwa wasted no time scoring in the 65th minute to make it seven.

Nabukenya struck two more goals to take her tally to six before substitute Kabarozi rounded off the scoring in the 80th minute with a composed finish. The commanding win gives Uganda a massive advantage ahead of the return leg on Sunday also at Hamz Stadium.

The aggregate winner between Uganda and Namibia will face Kenya in the second qualification round as the journey to the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup continues.
