AFC Leopards will be at home against Sofapaka in a Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League fixture dubbed ‘Cats derby’ at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Wednesday.
While Ingwe won their last league fixture 2-1 against Mara Sugar away at Awendo Green Stadium, Batoto ba Mungu grinded out a 2-0 win against KCB at Kenyatta Stadium.
During the first round meeting, the fixture ended in a 1-1 draw. Last season, the fixture did not produce a winner in two rounds. The first round action ended in a 1-1 draw with the second round producing a similar outcome.
In the previous campaign, the first round saw a 1-1 draw outcome but Sofapaka clawed Ingwe 2-1 in the second round meeting. Sofapaka will head into the tie as favourites since out of the last seven league matches, Ingwe are yet to beat them.
In another fixture, Ulinzi Stars will host Kariobangi Sharks, while Kakamega Homeboyz will hope to build from their last victory when they host Murang’a Seal at Mumias Complex.
