Right full-back Fredrick Alushula has completed a transfer move to AFC Leopards from Football Kenya Premier League side Kariobangi Sharks on a two-year contract.

Speaking after penning the contract, Alushula said: “I'm happy to join AFC, and I am looking forward to winning trophies with the club. I like the team's style of play.

“There's a lot of quality in the team. The team has the potential of lifting the FKF-PL this season, looking at the league table. There's also a lot of competition among my new teammates, which will make me improve as a player.”

About the pressure that comes with playing for AFC, he explained: “If you do the right thing as a player, they'll be very little pressure. I strive to work hard and play well according to the technical bench's instructions, which will help me manage pressure from the fans.”

Born in Ruiru Nairobi, the 21-year-old defender started his football journey at MASA (Makongeni Sports Association) and went to Joseph Apudo Primary School. His football journey blossomed at high school football powerhouse - Kakamega School, where he joined for his high school studies.

He turned up for the famous Green Commandos both in high school games and in the FKF Division 1 Zone B. He won the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association with Kakamega High School.

Straight from high school, Alushula joined Kariobangi Sharks on 20th October 2020, where he began his Football Kenya Premier League career, making his debut against Kakamega Homeboys in 2020.

He managed to score three goals and 10 assists in the four years he has been with the Kariobangi-based side.

He has also played for the Kenya U-23 national team. Alushula joins his former Kariobangi Sharks teammate, Julius Masaba, whom he says that having played together has made him settle easily and fast in the team.

Alushula, whose role models are Reece James and Kyle Walker, will wear the number three shirt and has already linked up with the rest of his teammates at the Den.
