FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia made it two wins out of two following a 2-0 victory against promoted outfit Mara Sugar at Homabay Stadium on Saturday.
K’Ogalo, who have been struggling in the first stages of the campaign, needed two late second half goals to sink the hard fighting Mara side.
After a 0-0 outcome in the first half, Gor Mahia had to wait until the 87th minute when man of the match Austin Odhiambo drilled home from close range after being set up by Rooney Onyango.
Gedeon Bendeka ensured the points are save after Odhiambo laid a neat pass which he converted home in 90th minute. The win against Mara comes after K’Ogalo had defeated Kakamega Homeboyz by a similar margin.
Gor Mahia have now moved to fifth position in the 18-team league with 14 points from eight matches. They are eight points less than leaders KCB, who have played three matches more. K’Ogalo have won four matches, drawn two and lost two.
Following the defeat, Mara dropped to third with 16 points from 11 matches. They have won four, drawn four and lost three.
KCB missed out on a chance to stretch their lead following a drab 0-0 draw against Bidco United. The Bankers under coach Patrick Odhiambo are now winless from the last two matches. Despite the draw, the Bankers remained top with 22 points accumulated from six wins, four draws and one defeat.
Meanwhile, Bandari moved to second above Mara Sugar after edging out Nairobi City Stars 1-0. Michael Apudo scored the only goal of the game with only three minutes to help the Dockers close in on the top spot.
