Gor Mahia management have confirmed that interim coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno will lead the FKF Premier League champions until the end of the season.
Otieno was handed the role following the decision by the club to fire head coach Leonardo Martins Neiva after a string of poor results in the top-flight.
While there have been rumours that the record Kenyan champions could be tempted to go for a foreign coach, club chairman Ambrose Rachier has said they have kept the trust with Otieno.
“As of now, we are not hiring a new Head coach. We are convinced that our interim coach Zedekiah Otieno is doing well with the team,’’ said Rachier as quoted by Citizen Digital.
‘’We have decided to give the interim coaches time. Come end of the season, we shall gauge their performance before we can make a new decision. But if they meet our expectations, we will surely not need a foreign coach.”
K’Ogalo are currently sitting third on the 18-team league table with 24 points from 14 matches. They are three points away from table leaders and second-placed Tusker, who have accumulated 27 points.
