Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League champions Gor Mahia will seek to bounce back to winning ways when they host in-form Sofapaka at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Wednesday.

K’Ogalo will go into the rescheduled fixture smarting from the 2-1 defeat suffered against table leaders Tusker last Sunday. A double from leading goal scorer Ryan Ogam did the trick against a Gor Mahia side, who scored through midfielder Austin Odhiambo.

On the other hand, Batoto ba Mungu will face Gor Mahia beaming with confidence as they have won their last two matches. Sofapaka beat Bidco United 2-1 before registering similar result against Posta Rangers.

But the match comes at the right time for K’Ogalo as they are yet to lose to Sofapaka in the last six league outings. Last season, after a 1-1 draw in the first round meeting, Gor Mahia recovered to beat Sofapaka 1-0 on their way to lift a record 21st league title.

In the previous campaign, the fixture did not produce a winner. The first round meeting ended in a 0-0 draw and the second meeting producing the same result. In the 2022 campaign, Gor Mahia won the first meeting 1-0 before a 1-1 result in the reverse fixture.

In other matches set for Wednesday, Kenya Police FC will be at home against Bandari while AFC Leopards will take on second-placed KCB. Ingwe are smarting from their shock 4-2 defeat against struggling FC Talanta.
