Kenya Police FC ascended to the top spot of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League table following a 3-0 victory against Bandari FC in a fixture played on Wednesday.

In the rescheduled fixture, the law enforcers looked the better side from the first whistle and it didn’t take them long to take the lead. A counter-attacking move from the middle of play found the unmarked Marvin Nabwire, who scored in the 10th minute.

Police continued to entertain and they doubled their lead 10 minutes later when Nabwire turned the provider, setting up Clinton Kinanga to score the second. Police went into the half-time break leading 2-0.

The second half looked an evenly contested affair and Police were forced to wait until the 80th minute when striker Jese Were powered home the third to end any lingering hopes of the visiting Dockers pulling a comeback.

The win enabled Police to move joint top with Tusker on 33 points from 17 matches. The law enforcers have secured nine wins, six draws and suffered two defeats.

Meanwhile, the defeat left the struggling Bandari in the eighth position with 23 points from 17 matches. The Dockers have now lost four matches, won five and drawn eight.

In another match, AFC Leopards recovered from their shock 4-2 defeat against FC Talanta in the previous fixture to defeat KCB 4-2 in a six goal thriller. Striker Kennedy Owino put Ingwe ahead with only four minutes played before KCB levelled matters in the 12th minute.

Ovella Ochieng then put Ingwe 2-1 up but KCB once again made it 2-2. However, a double from youngster Kevin Madada in the 50th and 81st minute ensured AFC Leopards secured their seventh win of the campaign.

Ingwe are now fifth with 25 points from 16 matches while the Bankers’ poor run of results saw them drop to third on 28 points from 18 matches.

Elsewhere, Gor Mahia scored a goal in each to end Sofapaka’s winless run in the top-flight following a 2-0 win. Defender Geoffrey Ochieng scored for the reigning champions in the 16th minute before Sharif Musa won the game for K’Ogalo in the 70th minute.

Gor Mahia have now jumped to fourth with 27 points though they still have a game in hand. Meanwhile, Sofapaka retained their sixth position with 24 points from 17 matches.
