Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League outfit Mathare United have confirmed the release of five players at the end of the mid-season transfer window.
A statement from the club obtained by Pan-Africa Football, announced the exit of Elias Kibet, Gideon Ogweno, Stephen Okola, Harryson Lutta and Jephiter Marga.
"The club can confirm that it has released five players following the closure of the mid-season transfer window," read part of the statement. "The five are Elias Kibet, Gideon Ogweno, Stephen Okola, Harryson Lutta and Jephiter Marga.
"Kibet and Okola, who joined the club last season and played key roles in our return to the top flight, depart after mutually agreeing to the termination of their contracts.
"Ogweno, who also joined us in the NSL last season, makes a direct transfer to Kibera Black Stars, while Maraga and Lutta will close out the remainder of the 2024/25 season at KSG Ogopa and Soy United, respectively."
The statement concluded; "The five make it nine total departures after those of Christian Lubulu, Kevin Kimani, Chris Koloti and Hakim Msami."
